In 1938, the Dutch wholesaler Cornelis van de Reepe, frustrated by poorly attached shoe soles, created an adhesive called Perfecta Supra using natural rubber, which quickly became popular. In 1905, pharmacist August Fischer purchased a small chemical factory in Bühl, Germany and in 1932 he developed the world’s first ready-to-use, crystal-clear synthetic resin adhesive.
